On April 30^th, Washington Junior High School was recognized by the State Superintendent, Chris Koch, for achieving the Academic Excellence Award for 2009.  To qualify for this award schools had to attain 90% of students meeting or exceeding State standards in both reading and math for three consecutive years.  In addition, the school must attain all Annual Yearly Progress targets in achievement, participation and attendance for the last two years.  Mr. Ross represented WJHS at this ceremony and humbly accepted this accolade on the behalf of all of the students and staff who had worked so hard to earn it.
