Special reading, or reading support, at Ranch View is a program that provides children in grades kindergarten through fifth grade support in developing their literacy skills. Students in this program are selected through reading screening and teacher referral. In Special Reading, students generally meet  4-5 times a week for 25-60 minutes. They may be "one on one" with a reading specialist or in small groups of two to six students. Students receive instruction which supports the classroom literacy curriculum in the areas of word study, comprehension and writing. Students may see the reading specialist for varying lengths of time throughout the school year.
