Student Council

Student Council is comprised of elected representatives of all classrooms from first through fifth grade. Students apply to be representatives and are elected after explaining their qualifications to their classmates. Each class has two representatives. The representatives meet with the staff sponsor regularly.
Student Council representatives have a number of responsibilities. They help at school functions like Veterans' Day, Saddlefest, and Volunteer Luncheon. They bring to the council meetings the concerns and suggestions of their classmates for discussions. Members decide special days for the school population to enjoy, special fund raisers and how money raised will be spent.

Safety Patrol

Fourth and fifth grade students may serve as Ranch View Safety Patrols. These students have the important task of helping their peers and families safely cross the many crosswalks outside of the building. There is both AM and PM safety patrol and students have the option to serve during one time slot. Students are required to participate every school day weather permitting.
Usually Safety Patrols are students who walk to school. Students who are bus riders, however, may serve as safety patrols if they have an alternate means of transportation on a daily basis.
If a student is interested in serving as a Ranch View School Safety Patrol, a signed permission form and a signed safety patrol pledge needs to be returned to school. An organizational meeting is held during the week before the start of the school year. Students who can't attend that meeting have an opportunity to begin after the school year is under way.

Chess Club

Ranch View Chess Club was created to encourage those students interested in the game of chess. Students meet in groups with others of same ability level to play and learn. Staff members instruct the basics to Chess Club 1 and the finer point of the game to Chess Club 2. Anyone interested in Chess Club should contact the school. Each student must have a singed permission form on file for this after-school activity.

Cartoon Club

Ranch View Cartoon Club is open to all fifth grade students. This club meets one hour after school on specified dates. During each cartoon club session students will view different cartoons and learn about their history. In addition each session includes step by step directions from Ranch View's art teacher on how to draw the different characters from the cartoons they view.

R & R

R&R (Ranch View Recreation) is a chance for 3rd, 4th and 5th graders to come after school from 2:30 to 3:15 to play games with other students in their own grade level. The children play games they have learned using the skills they have been learning in Physical Education class.

Running Club

The purpose of the 5th Grade Running Club is to teach boys and girls the benefits of running and being physically active.  Ranch View staff members coach this club.  No running experience is necessary but a desire to try your best is a must.  Sprinting, jogging, interval training, stretching, goal-setting, competing, and core strengthening are all incorporated into our hour long practices.
The 5th Grade Running Club meets for one hour, once a week, for ten weeks in the fall.
Learning to become a better runner and encouraging each other while we workout is a goal for everyone on our team.
