Monet's Lily Pond Project by 1st grade student

Naperville District 203 K-12 Visual Arts Philosophy

We believe that visual art is essential to human development.  Artistic achievements have been with us since long before the printed word; art has been called our first language. Through inquiry into the orgins and traditions of art, students become more literate. They learn about art concepts, cultural traditions, historical perspectives and the progress of civilizations. This promotes student understanding and enables them to shape their visual environment while enriching their experience.

Art Curriculum

We offer a comprehensive curriculum for Early Childhood through 5th grade. Each grade level is exposed to a variety of media as we explore an array of techniques, artists, cultures and technology. I work closely with each grade level team of teachers  to integrate my art projects into the classroom curriculum, enhancing the subject matter.
