It’s time to order gym shirts!! Gym shirts are a required item for all students at Madison Junior High School. Your student will need to have at least one shirt for his/her gym class. Many parents choose to order an extra shirt. Students will provide their own shorts or pants. (Students will wear these shirts all three years at Madison Junior High School.)
All shirts will be purchased through Boomer T’s and each shirt costs $5.45 if ordered by 7/25/14. <<MORE>>
The teen years can be marked by a roller coaster of emotions—which may be difficult for teens, their parents, and educators. It is easy to misread depression as normal adolescent turmoil; however, depression appears to be occurring at a much earlier age, and the past decade has seen teen suicide rates increase.
To proactively address this issue, MJHS is offering the SOS Signs of Suicide® Prevention Program on May 1st and 5th, based on your child’s team. <<MORE>>

Building Resilience in Our Children
Adults often view childhood as a carefree, joyful time. Unfortunately, our children will face traumas, stress and emotional upset. While children may face a variety of difficulties, their ability to overcome any of these challenges depends on their skills of resilience. Middle school can be a particularly difficult time for children as they struggle with academic demands and adjusting to new social expectations. They look to the adults in their lives to help them feel safe.
Read the Parents Use Your Power March newsletter for tips on how to cultivate resilience in your child.
