Applied Technology

Mark Kowalkowski - Instructor

In the applied technology laboratory students are introduced to different facets of technology through the use of computer-aided instruction and associated projects. The course provides an environment of self-directed cooperative learning. Students' computer skills are enhanced by exposing them to the use of computer-aided instruction which is an important 21st century learning tool which during their lifetimes will probably be used more and more. In addition, associated projects with the lessons enhance the students' understanding. Some modules incorporate the use of software packages which further expand the students' ability to adapt to other ways computers are used. An additional emphasis of the Applied Technology Laboratory environment is to support a "green environment." To that end, students are required to learn or improve their computer skills in terms of getting and saving their work in a completely online environment.
