As part of District 203's student assessment program, all Lincoln students took the computer-adaptive Performance Series assessments in reading and math this spring. Students received their one-page score report along with a letter explaining the purpose of the assessment. Please look for this report.
This summer District 203 wants students to include their families to challenge themselves to read as many books as possible and include their families in this challenge. All middle schools are supporting the public libraries’ summer reading programs entitled, “Have Book Will Travel.” Many students have been given this information in a bookmark format where they can keep track of all the good books read on the back side.
Follow the steps below to get started!
1. Go to the Lincoln Website and click on the library tab.
2. Drop down to LibGuides.
3. Click on 203 Summer Reading: Have Book Will Travel.
4. Click on the tabs at the top of the screen to view the Rebecca Caudill, Illinois Reads, and the ALSC suggested titles.
5. Book covers and summaries are provided to easily find a good read.
6. Get the whole family involved by doing one or more of the suggested family activities for the books you’ve read. These can be found in the Family Extension Activities box. There is something on the list for everyone, but if not found, please generate some ideas of your own. These activities might even foster a family book club where everyone enjoys reading the same book.
Students should chronicle their summer travels by taking a picture of themselves alone or with family and friends reading a book in a far away destination or a favorite local spot. Students will return the picture to the LRC when school starts. Look for information about participating in a Lincoln Family Literacy Night to share some of the best books read over the summer when school resumes.
Enjoy your reading travels!
