Volunteer Sign-up

ACCELERATED READER: Get involved in this rewarding program! A few volunteers are needed on a weekly or bi-monthly basis to help administer this school wide reading program. You will help keep track of awards, update the All-Star Reader Wall and keep the teachers informed. Days and times are flexible.

ART ROOM COORDINATOR: An opportunity to help the students and the art teacher with fun and creative projects. You may volunteer during your child's class, or on a weekly, bi-monthly or monthly basis. Look for more information in the August Kingsley newsletter.

ASSEMBLIES:

BOOK FAIRS: Fall and Spring fairs are held the week of parent/teacher conferences. Volunteers are needed for 2 hr. shifts. Various duties included helping students find prices, handling sales, and taking orders. You will be contacted about specific shift information closer to the fair dates. Approximately 50 parent volunteers are needed.

CARNIVAL:

COMMUNITY SERVICE: Volunteers are needed throughout the school year on either a monthly basis or on an "as-needed" schedule. Volunteers can serve in three areas: 1. Supervising craft or writing projects in the classrooms for 1/2 hour once a month. 2. Assist in organizing "service-outings" for the Kingsley's Volunteers in Action program to the local food pantry, nursing homes or shelters, etc. 3. Volunteer as a "family mentor" with the new "Family Connections" program that assists other Kingsley families during "difficult" times (make meals, provide transportation, donate goods or services, etc).

DIRECTORY:

FIELD DAY: Sign up to teach an event, work an hour shift (a.m. or p.m.) or assist with calls to volunteers. Students love to see their parents on the field.

FIFTH GRADE REP:

GRANDFRIENDS DAY: Volunteers are needed to help host our Grandfriends, direct them to appropriate classrooms and help serve refreshments.

GREETER DESK: Volunteers are needed to staff the Greeter Desk in the lobby for three shifts a day: 8:15-10:15, 10:15-12:15, and 12:15-2:25. Duties include greeting visitors to the school, making sure proper safety and classroom rules are followed, and possibly helping office staff and teachers with desk work. This can be done on a weekly, bi-monthly, or monthly basis.

HEALTH AND SAFETY: Volunteers help with students on vision and hearing screening days. This is a one time commitment. Shifts are from 8:30-11:30am and 12:00-2:30pm. Volunteers need to stay the entire shift.

HOLIDAY STORE: Volunteers are needed to set up this ""store"" in the multi-purpose room the Friday before (approximately 2 hours). Saturday morning we need 25-30 helpers so that children will have a successful shopping experience. Shifts: 8:30 – 11:00am or 11:00 – 1:30 pm. Volunteers will help children select gifts, total sales, package gifts and close the store.

ICE CREAM SOCIAL:  Help is needed planning, setting up, decorating, serving, and clean up. It is a fun-filled evening that needs you.

LRC: The Learning Resource Center and the Computer Lab are the center of the school's activities. Volunteer duties might include: checking in/out books, shelving books, reading stories, laminating, assisting teachers and students with assignments, assisting with the computer lab, etc. Approximately 40 committed volunteers are needed to fill all positions, training is provided. Morning or Afternoon, 2 1/2 hour shifts are either weekly or bi-monthly.

MARKET DAY: This is a one-Thursday a month commitment. Volunteers may choose from two shifts: 12:30-2:30 for unloading boxes and filling all orders. 6:15-7:15 for assistance with evening pick-up.

NEWSLETTER: Volunteers are needed to help work with student reporters, assemble articles, copy the newsletter or help publicize events.

PICTURE DAY: Volunteers are needed for 2 hour shifts to help line the children up for their pictures. The available shifts are: 8:30-10:30, 10:30-12:30, and 12:30-2:30.

USED BOOK SALE: Volunteers are needed for various duties including: typing, phone calling, counting flyers, driving to pass out advertising to preschools and various schools in the district, setting up tables, receiving or selling. One and a half -hour day or evening shifts are available.

WELCOMING COMMITTEE: This is a great opportunity to help welcome new families into the Kingsley Community. Help is needed for the New Parent Welcome Reception and the New Student Tours.

WRAPPING PAPER: Volunteers are needed to visit the classroom before the sale (promotion), to help tabulate orders at the end of the sale (September) and to separate orders to be distributed to students (Late October).

YEARBOOK: Volunteers are needed to help take pictures (school camera provided), help with sales, assembly and lay out of the yearbook.
