In Kingsley General Music class, our goal is to develop an understanding and appreciation of music.

Our classes focus around one or more of the 'Elements of Music'.  Rhythm, Melody, Harmony, Form, Texture, Tone Color/Timbre, and Expressive Qualities.

We use a wide variety of activities and mediums to meet our goal.

Band and Orchestra

The Kingsley Band and Kingsley Orchestra performs several times throughout the year, including winter program performances, a combined band/orchestra concert, and the fifth grade band festival. Throughout the year students are working on performance music as well as achievement lines and scale requirements.  Additional performances are occasionally scheduled for special events.

Lessons occur once a week on a rotating schedule, and full band/orchestra rehearses once a week also.  Information about the district summer band/orchestra program is available through the music link on the District 203 website.

Honor Band and Honor Strings are audition only groups.  Selected 5th graders from all 14 elementary schools will be invited to audition.  Honor Band and Honor Strings rehearse at a Junior High once a week from the middle of October through mid February.  Both groups perform together in February at either Naperville North or Naperville Central High School.
