Mr. Thaddeus Whildin
I was born and raised in a small town called Hampshire, Illinois. After graduating from high school, I attended Benedictine University (formerly known as IBC) where I was active not only in the education department, but also in the sports medicine field. In 1998, I realized that Kennedy Junior High School was the place for me to be when I was introduced to the CHAMPS Team. Some of my favorite activities include coaching and watching competitive swimming, track & field, auto racing, hiking, camping and spending time with my wife, daughter and two dogs.

Homework/Grading:
If you are seeking homework information, please access the blackboard website which can also be accessed on Kennedy's homepage. Homework announcements are updated daily.
Please remember, technology is a convenient and wonderful thing. This website DOES NOT replace the use of your assignment notebook. It is expected that you will have your assignments written in your A.N. on a daily basis. All assignments are posted in class the day they are assigned.
I use the school's grading scale for Science & Social Science classes:

Sixth Grade Social Science Curriculum:
District 230' philosophy toward the study of social sciences:
The purpose of the social science curriculum is to provide an integrated study of the social sciences to prepare students to become responsible citizens.
A viable K-12 social science program incorporates the five perspectives of social sciences identified in the Illinois Goals for Learning and the Illinois Academic Standards
Five perspectives of social sciences (historical, economic, political, geographic, and behavioral sciences) should be included in the curriculum at each grade level
The K-12 curriculum should build upon itself...expanding and broadening skills and concepts throughout the grades
The K-12 curriculum should organize information which will allow students to understand connections and to make multiply applications of this knowledge.
Each Trimester looks at a variety of civilizations from around the world. There is a general theme question to go with each trimester.
The Social Science textbook that will be used is: World History: Journey Across Time, The Early Ages (ISBN 0-07-860316-1). The order that the chapters are covered is as follows.
