Team Philosophy

The purpose of our team is to create an environment where our students feel as if they are a part of a smaller community within the big pond of junior high school. Being a part of this smaller community allows the students to form close relationships with their peers as well as their teachers. We believe this will lead to positive social, emotional, and academic success.

We believe that positive relationships between students, teachers and parents are at the heart of student success. In order to develop and maintain these relationships, we each have our own roles, which are outlined below:

The teachers will:

  • Provide extra help when needed.
  • Teach with a variety of techniques that embraces all learning styles.
  • Maintain an emotionally and physically safe environment.
  • Maintain an updated homework website.
  • Provide clear homework assignments to strengthen content area skills.

The students will:

  • Keep an accurate and updated assignment notebook.
  • Advocate for themselves by asking for help when needed.
  • Use active listening skills in class.
  • Turn in quality work on time.
  • Keep binders and locker organized.
  • Take responsibility for their own actions.

The parents will:

  • Provide quiet space for work completion.
  • Check assignment notebook for accurate information using the team web page.
  • Designate a space for school notices, permission slips, etc.
  • Encourage your child to take responsibility for their own school experiences.
  • Ask your child to provide a “top three” things that they learned at school today.

Policies and Procedures:

We expect that students will be on time, prepared and respectful.

Late Work:

Late work will always be accepted within a trimester.  However, points will be deducted for work that is turned in past the due date.

Respect:

Students are expected to show respect for themselves, their peers, their teachers as well as the school.  Any disrespectful behavior will be handled on an individual basis.

Tardies:

Students will be expected to be in their seats when the bell rings. Failure to do so will result in the following:
  • After three tardies, parents will be contacted.
  • After six tardies, students will receive a detention
  • After nine tardies, students will receive a referral to the office

To confirm assignments or to check in during an absence, students should visit the Frog Team homework page. To turn in or access online materials, Frogs should log in to their Blackboard accounts.
