NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS Early Dismissal on Friday, No School Monday This Friday is an Early Dismissal day. School ends for students at 11:15 am. Teachers will attend a building institute in the afternoon, so no students should be in the building during that time. The bell schedule for the day is viewable under the Academic tab/General Information/Bell Schedules . There is no school on Monday, February 15, 2010 in observance of President's Day. Enjoy the long weekend! Open House this Thursday February 11, 2010 is Open House night at Jefferson Junior High School. Patriot parents and students are encouraged to return to school from 7:00 until 8:30 pm. Teams and departments will have student work on display, and Science Expo will be open for viewing in the LRC. Click the link to view the room assignments for the evening. Band News Great job, Patriot 8^th grade Wind Ensemble at the February 4, North Side Band Festival at NNHS. Although all upcoming department events are listed on the Performance Music Calendar, two important jazz dates for all JJHS Jazz Members are: Saturday, March 20, 2010, Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast @ NCHS, 10:45 AM performance Wednesday, May 5, 2010, Max and Ermas gig, 6-8 PM February is Naperville Reads Month! Get ready, Patriots, to take part in a local tradition, Naperville Reads! This year's author is award-winning Neil Gaiman, who has written a variety of stories ranging from picture books to adult graphic novels. All 7th grade students from Districts 203 and 204 will be treated to a no-cost presentation by Mr. Gaiman, and to promote this event, Anderson's Bookshops is offering discounted pricing to Jefferson students on Coraline, The Graveyard Book, and Odd and the Frost Giants. Order forms must be turned in to the LRC by Friday, February 12, 2010. For more details on Mr. Gaiman's appearances, visit the Naperville Reads website. Jefferson Wrestlers Win Big! Congratulations to the Jefferson Wrestling teams for their terrific performances at the conference meet this past Saturday. After a mediocre regular season, the JV team really rose to the occasion and wrestled their way to a second place finish. The Varsity team maintained their undefeated season and took home the well-deserved conference championship. Way to go, Wrastlers, Coach Myers, and Coach Rester for making all Patriots proud! 8th Grade Gala is Friday, February 5, 2010! Jefferson's annual 8th Grade Gala is this Friday, February 5th from 5 to 8 pm. The theme for this year's event is "Bright Lights, Big City," and it promises to be spectacular!
