Patriot Connections has organized another Buona Beef Day to benefit the families of JJHS. A portion of the proceeds will go to Patriot Connections to support families in need throughout the school year. Just stop by the Buona Beef at 1588 Naperville Road from lunch to close Wednesday, December 11 and mention JJHS when ordering. This offer is good for dine-in, drive thru, and phone orders BUT you have to mention JJHS. Everyone has to eat so why not make it a night to benefit our families! Grab your friends and meet for dinner or drive thru on the way to/from your evening activities.
Thank you from your Patriot Connections team for making JJHS such a great place to be!
On Thursday, November 21st, Kennedy Junior High Counselor Rochelle Northrup, School Resource Officer Rob Sommer and Dr. Vicky Ross, Technology Integration Specialist presented Keeping Kids Safe Online: What Parents Need to Know. Parents learned about the social media sites and popular apps that students are using as well as the dangers that can be associated with social media. The program included helpful monitoring tips and limits for parents to consider.
To provide the information to families who were unable to attend, a copy of the PowerPoint presentation is located at this link.
It is holiday season again! December 2nd marks the start of our annual gift card drive to help Jefferson families during the holiday season and throughout the year. The number of Jefferson families we help each year increases. We will be collecting donations of gift cars to Target, Wal-Mart, K-mart, Meijer ad Jewel. Checks written to Jefferson and cash donations will be used to purchase gift cards. Gift cards allow each family to purchase needed items. If you are interested in participating please have your student bring their donation to Jefferson Square before school or drop it off at the main office during the week of December 2nd. Thank you for your generosity.
In October, NNHS offered parent information sessions regarding how the EXPLORE test taken by eighth graders impacts their high school scheduling. For those who were unable to attend, please view this excerpt from the presentation, and feel free to contact the counseling department at your child’s future high school for more information. The information is also posted on the left under "For Parents."
In an effort to assist others in need at our school this fall, we are asking for donations and collections.
In addition to Box Tops for Education, we are also collecting Jewel’s Stamp Saver stickers for Rachael Ray dinnerware. You or your students can drop them off at the main entrance to the school. Look for the labeled boxes! These collections will run through winter break. Please contact Mrs. Hernandez with questions.
Please help others in need and donate any winter coats, hats, scarves, or gloves for kids as you are cleaning out your closets. Contact Mrs. Kocisko for more information about those donations.

On Monday, November 11, 2013, the Jefferson family gathered for an assembly in celebration of Veteran's Day. The band, chorus and orchestra all performed patriotic selections to an audience that included veterans Bill Howland (Army), Douglas Deetjen, Sr. (Navy), former Patriots Anthony Rossi (National Guard) and Mr. Barry (Navy, Army Reserve, National Guard), as well as JJHS's own Mrs. Garza (Navy). This ceremony was a great tribute to all those who have served and Jefferson's way of saying thank you for that service. Great job, Mrs. Hernandez, for organizing such a fabulous celebration.
