IF a late start or snow day is declared, parents and staff will be notified in the early morning via email and telephone call. This decision will also be posted on the District 203 website by 5:45 AM. Barring notification to the contrary, school will be in session as usual.

In early December, Naperville School District 203 announced the creation of a late start schedule as a POSSIBLE alternative to declaring a snow day. Because inclement weather in the early morning can sometimes lead to a decision to close the schools for an entire day, District 203’s new late start schedule provides the flexibility to begin the school day two hours later than normal (high schools will begin 1.75 hours later), to allow time for roads to be cleared and the temperature to rise.

“By employing a late start schedule on wintery days, we can still provide a quality educational experience without compromising safety or losing a whole day of instruction,” said Superintendent Mark Mitrovich.

For full information, including drop-off and school start schedules by level, see the Late Start & School Closings page. Dismissal times will remain as normal.
