Volunteer Opportunities

H&S Volunteering

Volunteering at Beebe through the Home & School is a great way to meet other Beebe parents, get to know the wonderful Beebe staff, and most importantly, get to know the students and what's going on in the classrooms. Opportunities range from one hour commitments to year-long involvements, so there's sure to be something that will fit most schedules. To get involved look over the list of opportunities below, read more about them in the Beebe Parent 2 Parent guide [ENG|SPA], and contact one of the H&S Chairpersons.

Interacting with Students

Room Parent
Room parents organize 3 room parties per year and coordinate communication with classroom parents as necessary. You may be a room parent in only one of your childrens classrooms. Room Parent Chair is responsible for finding a room parent coordinator for each classroom, holding an organizational meeting at the beginning of the school year, overseeing the three classroom parties and helping Fifth Grade room parents with planning the end of year Fifth Grade autograph party.

Art Awareness
Periodically throughout the year, volunteers present a piece of art in the classroom and facilitate discussions about the art work. No art experience is necessary and training will be provided.

Beebe Book Club
This is a new committee for Beebe Home and School. Book club members will meet once a month (November - March) during their lunch period to discuss a selected book. Parent volunteers are needed to lead discussion groups and encourage student participation.

Ice Cream Social
Volunteers are needed during the evening of the Ice Cream Social to help serve ice cream, take tickets or donations, clean-up, etc. Volunteers are also needed to help plan the event. Ice Cream Social is held in late May.

Turn Off the TV Week
Volunteers are needed to help plan evening activities during the week long event held at the end of April. A team of at least two people will help plan and run one of the four events during the week.

Mini Courses
Mini Courses are enrichment activities offered through Home & School with the help of parent and community volunteers. The courses are for kids in grades 1-5 held on 2 consecutive Thursdays in the spring for about 1 hours per session. Parents can volunteer to share their expertise as an instructor, pitch in as an assistant, or even help with babysitting.

Student Health & Safety

Greeter Program
Volunteers are needed to greet visitors to Beebe and to ensure that each one signs in and wears a visitors badge. Each shift is two hours and scheduling is flexible. Please indicate day, time and how often you can work on the sign-up page.

Vision & Hearing Screening
Six to ten volunteers are needed to work either a half day or full day shift on the day of the student vision and hearing screening (held in the Fall). Four to eight volunteers are needed to work a half day shift on the re-screening day (also in the Fall). The Health and Safety Coordinator will contact volunteers to schedule their volunteer time.

Fundraising

Gift Wrap Sales
Volunteers are needed to compile and distribute orders in the fall.

Market Day
Volunteers are needed one day each month (on the 2nd or 3rd Thursday of the month) to unpack products and check orders. Free babysitting is available for volunteers. Please indicate all shifts you can work.

Incentive Programs
Volunteers are needed to help coordinate incentive programs such as Chuck E. Cheese Night, McDonalds Night, etc
